Disruptive 48-hour Luas strike underway

The tram system is not running as hundreds of thousands of people visit Dublin city centre to attend events for the centenary of the Easter Rising.

The Luas drivers, who are represented by SIPTU, overwhelmingly rejected a pay deal brokered at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) last week.

Transdev, the company that operates the Luas, say the deal would have given existing staff increases of up to 18% over 33 months.
